Default Master cylinder help.....

Hey guys,
Its been a while since I have been around on the forums but I gotta get some help on something pretty fast. Istarted school in oct and have been racking up alot of miles on my car so the first major problem to happen is my master cylinder went bad. I took my car by Midas just for the convenience and they are telling me $2000 to replace the thing. I need to know if anyone has had theirs replaced and is this price accurate. Can I get it cheaper from some of the CL sponsors? Any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated!!

Brice

Trance,

Good to see you back here. I had my Master Cylinder replaced by dealer under warranty. So I have no idea about the cost. Try talk to your dealer and have it replaced under the drive/tran warranty. Good luck.

actually, i forgot where i read, but replacing the master cylinder is not cheap at all.... not sure about 2000, but somehow i got the impression of 1400 or 1600.

Had to have mine replaced a couple of weeks ago after only 1600 miles...freak thing I guess. The service guy told me it would've run about $1300 or so.

Hope this helps.

Henry...just a freak thing I guess, bro. I was a little ticked at first, being that it is a Lexus and brand new, but the service department (Hennessy Lexus rocks!!!) was excellent and my baby is fixed now. I can't really complain too much anyways...this car is even better than I had imagined it would be, so one little hiccup isn't going to sour me.
