well you can probably do it, but without airgun you will be having a lot of trouble and you need tons of elbow grease for sure, especially when you try to loosen up the lower part of the setup

Thats where good tools come in.

Depends on what coilovers you are installing.
Tein flex units are complete so R&R is very doable with what you have.

Other Teins and PSS require the older hat assemblies off of your old unit. This will complicate things as the original units are under load from the springs which can cause injury.

If you have to reuse your old hats, then go to an auto parts store and rent a col spring compressor. It can be done without one, but it is dangerous to do so , so I will not go into explaining how it is done.

Use white out to mark the suspension pieces and tie rods to get everything back to as close as possible. Then go and get an alignment.

Air tools are always recommended. You can change each side up front within 15 minutes. Rears around the same with air tools and experience.

does installing the rears require removing the rear seatback?

No, most of the work is done from the trunk. Remove the trunk liner and you will see the 6 bolts (3 each) in the corners. Then remove the lower bolts from under the car.
