Default Moving to Atlanta

Enough of California, it's time to go. We're moving to Atlanta metro area before the end of May. I'm not a "service my car at dealer" kind of guy, so I don't really need help with figuring out who will work on my car, but it would be nice to know the other stuff a Lexus owner needs to know about living in Atlanta.

Any tips, suggestions, hints, or other things I should know before I leave California?

yeah, expect politeness on the road and to be greeted in a nice way. the south is a better place (as far as nice people) than cali. 3 years in both areas leads me to this conclusion. ATL might remind you of the fast paced Cali.. Good luck on the planning/move.

PS, how are you going to move all them cars?

Yeah, I agree ATL is nicer than Cali in terms of drivers but theres still some craziness here - keep your guard up... Check out Club Lexus - sister site http://www.seloc.net We are a very nice group and we hang out and do stuff all the time - this coming monday we rented out a small road course track to run on at Talladega and we have alot of upcoming events - Join us!.. and Welcome to Atlanta...

Thanks for the info. I'll be happy to participate, but I'll probably be doing most of my fun stuff with my Supra. I still enjoy the IS, but it won't have the power the Supra will have soon.

Theres also a Supra Club in Atlanta - and we meet with them regularly - One of the the Supra members (Clark) has a 1000 HP Daily Driven Supra..!!

What are you doing to your Supra?

When are you moving to ATL?

C-ya,

Don

Moving no later than the end of May. We'll actually be in and out a few times before then.

I know a few Supra guys in Atlanta already. I know a bit about them, and I've been active in the Supra community for awhile, just not the Supraforums world. I'm the guy from the MkIV list they are referring to in this thread. I don't want to go exotic on internals, and I know I can get ~800 hp out of a fairly stock long block. That will be enough for some time to come. I've just been hamstrung by Smog Check II for a very long time. It will be nice to have tailpipe checks, not the full smog **** style inspections we have here.

Then there's RaceLogic traction control, and a host of other stuff I don't need to make public...

Hey! Looking forward to having you in our Atlanta Lexus family! Any one of us will be more then happy to help you with any questions you have. There isn't much that you have to know about moving here really. It's not the country bumpkin place it's made out to be(I will admit however we have our fair share of some rednecks) but the southern hospitality still lives in most of the state. I really think you will like it here. You will still have some of the culture that you have in cali yet less headaches IMO. As already said we have a strong Lexus community and we also have a great supra following so you will have a lot of car lover things to do.

Good luck in your move and hit us up if there is anything we can do.

~Luda enters~ Welcome to Atlanta where the players play...~Luda exits~

Sorry....Lame, I know, but I couldn't resist.

You'll like it here. Very different from Cali. We have no EARTHQUAKES or SMOG or FRUTI TREE HUGGING PEOPLE...... Just playing.....we have some smog.....LOL. JP.

Seriously, Atlanta is great because you can drive 30 mins in one direction and find super hussle and bussle like any BIG city and drive 30 mins in the opposite direction and find yourself sitting in a dog park underneath a big oak tree or dogwood. As for the Lexus crowd, they're a bunch of car crazy, derranged, triple digit driving, always looking for a place to eat, friends with all the other car clubs kinda crowd . We try and welcome everyone, but be aware that we do have some pretty stringent initiation hazzing....

BTW, if you need any help with anything Real Estate related, give me a call. I have all the hookups from Agents to Mortgage company to Insurance to Appraisers to Inspectors to the trash man. Call me if you need anything. 404-925-1558.

Welcome to Atlanta.

G/L with the move man. The south is a great place to live. How are you planning on moving those cars though? Need an extra driver? lol

Finally got the move date. We'll be putting everything in a truck the week of May 7th. We're still figuring out how to ferry all three cars, and the Supra is in the middle of a bunch of work, but we'll sort it out somehow.

Can't wait to leave the land of the smog *****. See you all soon, and we'll be planning a party as soon as we get settled a bit.
