Just wondering if anyone here knows this guy.

A couple of months ago, he purchased some rims from me.

His paypal account wasn't setup, so my friend offered to run his credit card through his shop to help him buy the rims.

He received the rims and even posted pictures of them on his car.

He recently filed a charge back through his credit card.

Needless to say, I am not very happy. Just wondering if anyone here knows how to contact him. It seems I am now out of a good amount of money.

You could always have the police subpoena for an IP address and locate him that way.

The chargeback means he has effectively stolen your wheels so this is a case of theft. You have evidence too - presumably PMs, shipping documentation etc. documenting the transaction. You should send him to jail.

You should get advice from one of the senior moderators here since they probably have experience with this.

Here's what I would do - just my ideas - I'm no expert:

I would make reasonable attempts to contact him.

If that doesn't work, then file a police report and share with them all the documentation.

Once you have police report go back to credit card company and try to enforce the transaction showing them police report, sales agreement in emails, and the shipping documentation showing goods were delivered. Since you did this by PM, you will need to establish that the person who you agreed the transaction with is the same person who is the credit card holder. I assume you checked ID, and validated the identity.

With this evidence credit card company should decide case in your favor.

If it doesn't then go back to the cops and say that you are still out of pocket and want to prosecute, that they should be able to establish the thief's residence and location from both credit card company and IP address. Once the find the thief, they should be able to validate the theft and file charges.

 

His profile shows Hawaii but in the thread where he posted pics of his car with the wheels, that shop KAO Auto Styling is located in Las Vegas.

This photo here shows his plate number. Not very clear but it's something at least.



This is really terrible. I remember exchanging PMs back and forth with this guy a few months back regarding wheels, etc. Good luck.

In my experience, the credit card company gives the company/person who charged the card time to prove the transaction is legitimate. I would send copies of everything you have, including these pictures of his car with your wheels on it. It could be that he stole someone's credit card and the person requesting the chargeback isn't this douchebag. Good luck man. This really sucks.

 

Wow horrible people out there, little off topic how much were those rims.

Wow, that is a **** move. You should have enough evidence (just from the photos) to get your money back. The credit card company could argue that a nickname could be made up by anyone, but if you have chats / PMs / emails, you REALLY should be fine.

Hope you get your money back and maybe even get some Karma back - see if the credit card company can put something on his account about this. And, I would definitely pursue legal venues (meaning, the police).

I've had that done to me when I sold a DSLR on FleaBay - was out of $1300. However, I was able to work it out with the recipient of my Nikon, and it all came down to a misunderstanding. However, in your case, it seems blatant.

 

Why did he charge them back?? Did he complain about the wheels to you? was there an issue when the purchase was made??

Nope, there was no complaints or anything about the rims.

This transaction was actually done about 2 months ago, at the beginning of june.

The charge back was recently filed a couple days ago.

Currently submitting evidence to the credit card company.

 

He logged in yesterday if you went to look at his profile. Have you sent him a PM? I will send him one with a link to this thread and hopefully it gets resolved.
