Sc
Here's what I believe to be the reason.
Years ago, many folks on this site had a snobbish attitude against the SC300/400. They felt is was an older car that people owned because they couldn't afford a newer Lexus. There were several threads and posts with comments saying this. As a former SC300 owner, I often felt left out by my friends who owned newer cars. My SC cost me 26K which is more than many used GS cost but I was still treated as not being able to afford a newer Lexus.
Things have changed now. Lot's of guys buy older SC's to mod the heck out of it. When properly modded it is hands down the best looking Lexus all time. I said that when I had one and I still say it now. People are starting to believe it now.
Another reason is the total departure the 430 went from the original. It's like a different car. At least that's how many felt. I don't. It was the most expensive model in the old days and it was today...until the LS460LH came along. It was the only coupe and still is today. It evolved more radically than anticipated but it still carries the Soarer/SC nameplate and I think they should be together.
Many of those guys who wanted to keep them apart are gone or don't post as much. This is the time to unite the model. Keep the requests coming.

Exactly. Why do we have the SC models in two separate SC forums? When the SC 460 comes out is there going to be a third SC forum? If that's the case then we'd have to have a lot more forums separating each model by each generation. That wouldn't make sense. We have a forum for each model then it is subcatagorized by generation and that makes sense. The two different SC forums should be one SC forum then subcatagorized by the two generations...
These cars are closer relatives than people give them credit. Like a big brother/little brother thing.
They are not even remotely the same car........ not in any way. They do not share the same chassis, same interior, same drivetrain, same anything. The fact they badged it an Sc was just because it was a 2dr. There is NO resemblance between the two platforms in any way. It's a totally different car and is in a totally different section.

The first gen IS is a different platform than the 2nd gen IS but they are in the same section.
There's no logic to keeping the SC's apart.
i guess i can see both sides to this.
but then again i think it'd be easier to have the SC 430 in a sub category just to keep the front forum page in it's current format.
i mean the same thing could be said about the IS300 and 2IS that they don't share anything in common except for a teeny weeny bit in styling.

Guys, we've discussed this previously and I'll paste in my responses from a recent thread.
We'll re-examine when we see the next generation of SCs and may choose to combine them or simply create a generation subforum on the SC430 forum.
We won't join the SC forums until we see what the next version SC will bring us... this has been discussed in the past at great length when we created the SC430 forum. It was decided (and still is valid) that the SC430 is not a next 'generation' or evolution from the original classic SC. It's an entirely different car with different purpose and deserving of its own subforum despite sharing the 'SC' prefix
.....
Every single Lexus model except for the SC clearly carries forward the lineage and DNA of the predecessor model. 1GS to 2GS to 3GS, a resounding yes. 1IS to 2IS, absolutely. LS - totally can't miss it, etc etc etc.
