Note - questions about your Lexus do not belong in this forum!
Just seeing if that makes sense, cause it does to me! None of the other older gen lexus' have their own separate section on the main forum listing except for the SC models. (I actually have been wondering about this for the past several yrs.)

I think it would get too confusing. We have too many members here that are first gen SC owners. Even in the GS forum, there are 3 different forums within, one for each generation. Maybe we could do that just to make a little less clutter on the main page, but to me its fine just the way it is.
Just because both models begin with "SC" on their badges doesn't mean they are similar cars. In fact, mechanically they have nothing in common, except for the V8 engine. Except for general stuff posted in Maintenance or Car Chat, I can't think of many maintenance or performance issues regarding the SC3/4 that would interest a SC430 owner, and vice-versa.
There's another Lexus forum out there that combines the two models into one forum- go see how well that one's working out.
Even though the 2 cars share the SC name, they really couldn't be more different. They also almost totally appeal to different people and demographics.
We have talked about it I think a couple years ago.
But hey, give a convincing arguement and who knows
another point i wanted to bring up is on the main forum section, the sc300/400 is the only out of production model shown w/ a pic. the sc old and new was the soarer in japan up until last yr. i know they are completely different cars.. but you can make the same exact argument w/ every single lexus model (1gs vs 2gs vs 3gs, 1is vs 2is.. which also has different target demographics). also, it makes it seem as though the sc series is 'more special' when it is split like that.. just thinking of the entire lexus family here (not just the sc).
to avoid any confusion, again i am talking about the initial forum page.. not about combining each of the generations into one. i'm looking for it to read 'SC Models' and then sublinks in it showing 'SC - First Generation', and 'SC - Second Generation'.

We made this decision when the SC430 model was initially announced.
General opinion is that the SC430 is not evolutionary from the SC300/400 despite the shared monicker. Demographics of the owners are very different, where you find many of the IS and GS members (for example) blur and participate across generations.
We'll consider your suggestion, but the volume and activity of the SC300/400 membership as it exists today (in addition to reasons above) has me leaning towards leaving it separate.
