I have a 2005 GX and it takes regular gas. I just picked up the 2010 GX today and noticed that it said to use premium only. Anyone using less than premium?

Probably you can, but would you risk it when the cost difference is less than 10%. With amount of gas the truck uses you will have to take an additional loan anyway to be able to drive it. My millage is terrible

Thanks for the feedback. I was just surprised when I popped open the tank and saw premium after loving 5 years of regular. I agree it is piece of mind to use the premium.

I believe all Lexus from 2000 use premium... so far as I know... but car runs on premium can take regular too, just not good to the engine for long term and have less power and low performance

im kinda trolling in the GX forums haha but also keep in mind you'll get more mpg out of premium than regular... reason being regular contains ethanol to reduce emissions. Ethanol doesnt burn as efficiently as gas, so it burns more going 1mile than it would burn gasoline. Premium fuels dont have ethanol. Well at least this is how it is in canada, not sure if the premiums have ethanol down in the states or not.

Let me start by saying that I am using Premium gas for piece of mind. Price difference is too small and I needed to take 2nd morgage on my car anyway to be able to drive since the millage is terrible 
To add to the conversation and a little Toyota/Lexus conspiracy.
I think that you can drive without any problems on a regular gas, but the miles/gallon will drop a small %. Toyota/Lexus to increase the CAFE reported to the Federal Government, have started to require the Premium gas to report a better fuel efficiency. The is the same reason why they have moved to 0W-20 engine oil and increased oil change intervals.

Competiing with others is a BS. They want to get on the money wagon. I have just sold my 09 335i. They do the 15k as it is easy $$$ for them. The only place where you can change the oil is BMW dealer and it costs almost $300. While under waranty they change it for free, after that you are screwed + the car is not reliable. It is manufacturer way to make a buck and the customer is getting rear ended

I won't buy another BMW ever. My X5 was a lemon. That was my 4th and last BMW. I waited months for parts to repair a brand new vehicle. The electronics were junk as well...

Compression ratio on the 4.7 is 10 to 1, the 4.6 is a more advanced engine with a compression ratio of 10.2 to 1, the old school method of choosing gas use to be by compression ratio, both engines should run on premium but thanks to modern ECU that can retard and advance timing, the engine is protect if constantly ran on regular.
But it should clearly be ran on premium, even if the toyota counterparts with the same engine can run regular, thats usually what Lexus owners do, default to the toyota with the same engine

GX460 Hesitation
Are any other GX 460 owners experiencing hesitation when accelerating? I live in Arizona where premium gasoline is only 91 octane, and regardless of brand there can be from a one to three second hesitation when accelerating.
