2013 Gx 460 with code P2111
Went to a drive-in movie, left the car running. After about 30 minutes, the engine began to rev erratically. The check engine light was on, the TRAC OFF warning was on, and the 4Lo light was flashing. Turned the vehicle off. At the end of the movie, started it up again, same lights on. Started to drive out fine, then when trying to accelerate, I floored it and barely moved. I had to turn off the car, wait a few minutes, then try again. This time, I was able to accelerate with no problem, though the warning lights were still on. The next afternoon, I start it up again and the warning lights are not on anymore. Had the computer checked and pulled the P2111 code. Any help with this would be appreciated.

A quick search came up with the "throttle actuator control system". I searched for the Toyota code as these are often the same but that would explain why it acted erratic and then went into limp mode.
Some say it's as simple as cleaning the throttle control module, but I would say def get it checked out. This doesn't seem to be an emissions related check engine code which you can normally drive around with.

Thanks for the quick replies. I removed the gas cap, cleaned the lip, lubricated the o-ring on the cap, and reattached. I also bought throttle body cleaner spray and cleaned the paddle, which was somewhat dirty. Now I will see if this takes care of the issue. Since it has only happened once, hopefully this will take care of the problem Thank you so much for your help!

Well, it has actually gotten worse. Now every time I slow down to stop, it kicks into "limp mode". I can't accelerate. I have to stop, turn car off and on again, then go as far as I can until I have to slow to a stop again. I'm guessing, since all I have done is try to clean the throttle body paddle, that is probably what I need to replace. Any ideas?

I haven't had any of the intake off on mine but can you clearly see that intake and area around throttle plate is solidly clean? It sounds like throttle is somehow not able to completely return to closed position even though accelerator is fully closed. I had an old Explorer with intake build up that accumulated enough to make throttle sticky. This was pre-electronic throttle though so you could feel it.

Out of curiosity, how many miles on the GX brucemorga? I like to know what may be in my future. Please keep us updated with your findings.
Good luck.

I have just over 51,000 on the car. Just past the 50,000 mile warranty. I attempted to have the car "relearn" normal idle in ways I had seen online, but this did not seem to help either. Planning to take it in soon to have a mechanic check the throttle sensor. If it's bad, I may need to replace the entire throttle body. I'll keep you up to date.

EDIT: My mistake... only items listed with 8/80 after them... Throttle Body not included... sorry...
Be advised Federal Emission warranty lasts until 8/80. Throttle Body is included.
