When looking, I just google OEM Part number for YY SC430 blah blah blah. Then check the part number thru these websites in this link

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...m_content=post

Check the "WHAT THIS FITS" to make sure it fits my year or you can always call them to make sure of fitment and correct part number.

I made my own list on my iPad under Notes for ready reference.

Default Just nabbed this beauty

Just nabbed a 2005 with super low miles for $20,500 and pretty stoked to learn all about it. Looking forward to digging into the write ups and all the stickies.

Default Helping out my father

Hello,

My father has one of these, a 2002 I think with maybe 80k miles. Cool little car. I joined to try to find as much info as possible on replacing timing belt, water pump for/with him next week or so. Personally, I think he's crazy, the car looks and smells new, stunning service records from previous owner, etc. He did mention it is a belt, so, I get it.

Looking for where ya'll find reliable factory service manuals? I don't like surprises, especially the, "oh, you shoulda also bought this part" and then wait a week or two for it.

I found this link,
FSM
however, I don't have enough permission or maybe it's because I'm new. Anyone know?

Thanks, and have a great day,

CJinTexas

There is an OE AISIN TB / WP Kit that includes all(?) items needed like the tensioner, pulleys, gaskets, etc.

Google "AISIN Timing belt water pump kit for SC430" and it will show places that sell this.

Otherwise, I was quoted $1800 by my local dealership to have the TB/WP Kit done, but each dealership can be different on what their "Kit" includes.

You can always google a local reputable Japanese Specialty Mechanic shop, look at reviews and call them to see if they've specifically worked on the SC.

That might save you money if you opt not to DIY.

If you want to DIY, I believe there's videos to guide you through.

Henri Higgins has a YT channel/site with lots of DIY videos.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thanks for the info. Definitely doing it ourselves. Dealer wanted 3-6k to replace the rear main in my wife's '17 4Runner. Took me two days and less than $150 in OEM seal and exhaust gaskets. Without a lift.

You are lucky you can DIY 👍

If you find maybe it might be more than you thought, I believe you can bring in the AISIN Kit to a local Japanese specialty mechanic and should be cheaper than a dealership to replace / install.

Good luck and keep us posted on what worked for you, how long it took and any hiccups, if any, along the way.

I went to check out Henri Higgins YouTube and didn’t find the TB/WP, video but I’m sure there are other DIY videos out there.

Calvin Azzola (owner) and Henri Higgins (email help) are behind SC430Mods.com — https://www.sc430mods.com/

There are many mods available — you can check them out!!

We’ve gotten the blue tooth adapter and backup camera. Some of the items go out-of-stock, but it doesn’t take long to restock their supply.

Also, eBay has owners manuals for 2002 SC430 — different prices to choose from.

Again, good luck with what’s ahead for you — there’s plenty of helpful, knowledgeable owners here on CL.

Default My SC400

Been a member for many years, although not very active, so I never did an intro.
I have a 1997 SC400, in white, tan interior with gold trim. Bought it a LEXUS OF NASHVILLE as third owner. Only have done work on her recently with new calipers, rotors and left read axle hub, seal and bearings. Several years ago I did the alternator and power steering pump for known reasons. Last battery lasted 7 years, as she is mostly a garage queen both of us being retired. I do have the nagging chiming problem, as yet unsolved, so I took out the fuse to stop, also losing many of the interior options. She chimes just sitting, without the key in, but stops when you start the car. I have read many accounts here of the same issue without a remedy - as yet.

Her majesty in her throne room.

NIce SC. Reminds me of mine. You should post this in the 1st Gen section. It'll get more traction.
