All NAVI buttons not working (MENU, INFO, OPEN, CLOSE, etc)
I'm trying to figure out why none of the buttons just below the navigation work. The NAVI cover also doesn't work either.
I checked the TV NAVI fuse and it was fine.
Car recently had stereo updated and the stereo works fine, as does the cover for the lower stereo screen.
Looking for ideas/experience with what could be the cause for none of the button working?
I am thinking maybe it was unplugged (intentionally or unintentially) during the stereo install.
This is a new to us (excellent condition) 2003 SC430 (deep green/black) with 72k miles.
Thanks in advance,
Scott

That sounds like a connection. That section can easily be pulled out forward. Probably the easiest way is to use a right angle pry tool or bar inserting just under the gap above the radio unit and pull it out. it's not a bad idea to protect the leather with masking tape so you don't damage it. If you look on SC430mods.com installation videos you will find a video on how to do this. Having said all this I would go back to the company who installed the new stereo and ask them to fix it as it is obvious something they have caused.

Thanks for the quick reply! I did go to your site and watched the bluetooth installation video which shows how to slide out the control panel section.
Is there a specific connector which handles the top row buttons on the control panel? Those are the ones which are not working.
It is possible my FIL asked for them to remove the connection to the NAVI, since the new stereo has carplay and he may have figured he wouldn't use it.
TBH, I think the installer did it ... whether it was intentional or not, I'll never know as the vehicle is inherited and I cannot return to the installer as its 25 hours away.
TBH, I'm not sure I really care about the upper NAVI screen or its main function, but if there are other car maintenance functions that screen is used for, then yes I
probably would want it working again.
The stereo also doesn't sound amazing, so not sure if they used the ML amp or not. I do know the steering wheel controls do not work at all with the new stereo. I would have thought they would have used a module to make that possible.

The work around was introduced to me in this thread. You may need to do some more reading, but this method works in my 2002.
Agree with last post. If the OEM radio is replaced and/or includingt he unplugging or removal of the ML amp this may occur. I did a complete radio system install and all those buttons went dead. Also, my NAV was crappy and ended up removing the screen system and putting that space to work for me in other areas of my install. If you still have all OEM components then you may want to check all the harnesses are connected properly.
Thank you all for the quick and helpful replies.
Unfortunately we don't have the OEM stereo anymore as my FIL had is professionally done and they probably tossed it.
There doesn't seem to be any real loss of anything useful since the new stereo has a nicer screen, apply carplay and a backup camera.
I guess the MENU is lost, but not sure if thats a big loss anyways.
Comments welcome.
Thanks.
This thread on post 17 had the workaround for those with the old stereo available to remove motherboard from.

you don't have to have the OEM radio, you just need to put a 68-Ohm resistor across some pins in the OEM connectors as illustrated in the thread I referenced below.
