Installing a new stereo system and when removing the HVAC unit it decided to just basically fall apart. Both ribbon cables are trashed. I've already ordered a new unit from ebay but I can't be leaving the top down for who knows how long while I'm waiting for the new unit. There's gotta be a way to "hotwire" or "bypass" the roof switch but my searching is finding nothing and this car is far too complicated for me to just start probing away. I'm very mechanically inclined and have plenty of experience with electrical. I just need to know which pins to jump!

look in your owners manual for the procedure to manually raise the roof.
it takes two people.

I no haz owners manual. Or 2 people. Of course it looks like it's about to start dumping.
There's gotta be a way to activate the open/close switch elsewhere in the car? I really wish I could have a chat with whoever took this thing apart before me...

Oh dear lord. That's too much. But I appreciate the .pdf as that section is not in the manual I found. Ill label it something like, "In Case of Emergency, When Suicide is not an Option."

The first reading IS intimidating. Second reading, as you begin to see how it works, is less so. On the third reading, it is a piece of cake. BUT it takes 2 people.

How do I get these "cable joints" disconnected? I'm gonna break these little lock tabs off for sure.
Update! Got it closed except for the rear windows... But some sensor is still reading like it's half open. So now the damn thing ding ding dings non-stop! So sick!
