Default Using stock nav screen for backup camera without Naviks or NavTool

All,

I would like to install a backup camera and have it display on the stock navigation screen. I am okay with losing the navigation function. I know it is possible to connect a backup camera to the nav screen using an aftermarket device, but, since I don't mind losing navigation (and I don't care if the backup camera feed displays while I am in Drive or Park, I would like to know if I can connect the camera without a NavTool or Naviks aftermarket device. I've searched the boards and could not find an answer to my specific question. It seems logical that the camera could be fed to the same wire that runs between the Navigation DVD and the nav screen.

Thanks in advance,

SeaStories

It does seem logical, but I was told by NAVICKS, that the video is fed through RGB (Red, Green, Blue) aka component wires. Cameras you buy have RCA adapters. This keeps you from using them for the in dash display.

You might be able to buy a convertor, but that is one of the many functions Navicks does, so it might just be better to go that route.
