Default Wheel Cover Paint Code

I searched the forum but haven't had any luck or haven't found the magic phrase to yield the right post. Our new to us 2005 SC430 has the painted twisted wheel covers that have some fading. Does anyone know the paint code or know a matching paint brand? I would hate to have to purchase new covers just because of some fading. Thanks in advance.

I think that there were more than one color/tinting on the twisties. I've seen at least 2 or 3 from chrome to gray/silver.

I have seen the chrome and the darker gray. Ours are the silver. I may just go to Home Depot to try to match if there isn't a "right" answer.

just curious, have you considered replacing the wheels with other Lexus wheels?

Would love to. I am partial to the OEM wheels. Which would you suggest?

I selected Tourmalines for the 2002 and 2014 IS350 wheels for the 2007.

2002 with Tourmaline wheels

2007 with IS350

Very nice. Time to keep an eye out for some Lexus take-offs.

I have a 2002 SC430. The wheel color doesn't match the pie plate covers and I wanted a brighter wheel. So, I used the hub caps (aftermarket plastic hub caps) to match the color for the wheels. I took a hub cap to the local automotive paint supply store and they used a spectrophotometer to match the color for the wheels. Spectrophotometers are available online for as little as $40.00 (Braun Color Match Light), but unless you're using it a lot a automotive paint supply store is the way to go.

The shop I used in Columbus Ohio is Ohio Auto Kolor. They will match the color and prepare aerosol cans for spray painting the wheels ( little pricey, but a good alternative if you don't have a car paint sprayer and compressor. It takes about a half to two-thirds of a can for two coats per wheel). I use a clear coat in an aerosol that the paint store prepared as a final coat to protect and get a gloss. Wheels can be prepped and painting on the cars, using painter's tape to mask off the tires. Or, you can remove the wheel and paint if off the car. If you want to paint the entire wheel you can remove the tire.

Note: When you are spray painting make sure it is in a well ventilated area and you are using a respirator like a 3M 7162 respirator. They tend to run a little small on size so if buying in person make sure it fits. If buying online I suggest going a size up and remember to buy extra filters (they are a one-time use).

Hope this helps.
