Engine Undercovers
I was wondering how many of you have them, have removed them and why? The obvious is doing an oil change you have to remove at least one to get to the oil filter. When I inspected underneith my "new to me" 02, there are still some ripped off tabs from the two major covers attached but for the most part the fastening hardware is gone also. I'm a bit of a stickler about my cars and like them to be as clean and OEM as possible. But my SC430 lives in SoCal in good weather and fairly decent roads for the most part. Keeping things clean and tidy helps me spot a problem quickly because even a drop of oil is out of place. So. Just curious if you kept them or dumped them? Thanks.

Well whatever you decide. My underbody covers have sustained some damage over the years. Finally got around to ordering new ones which I haven't got around to installing yet. Why you may ask? Aerodynamics. You should inspect your car's spats as well. See the attached PDF

Very informative. Thanks. I have not had a chance to get the SC430 Maintenance Manuals yet. And since I don't own a personal PC anymore, I don't have a way to go to the Lexus website and download the information for the ridiculously small fee they are asking. I have to use my phone or work computer for research etc. I did buy the Electrical Manual almost immediately though. Being an Electronics Tech for 40 years, it provides a wealth of information that I can easily interpret.
I just joined this forum a few days ago and there is no comparison to the quality and amount of information I am finding here, compared to the other forum I had been participating in. Thank You everyone. I have already found several pieces of information quite useful. And even though I have only been able to review about 20 pages of the total 2nd Gen SC Forum, it has already provided some invaluable information that just didn't pop up using the normal web browsers. Information just like this. Have a great weekend everyone.

you only need to remove three cover bolts to access the oil filter.

My kingdom for a lift. Well, I finally got a chance to crawl under my girl today. Using the diagrams provided by VVTibob, Thank you very much, specifically New Model Outline page MO-15, and Body BO-10, She is missing both halves of Engine Cover #2, I see nothing resembling Large Front Spats, one Floor Undercover #2 on the passenger side, and one Under Radiator/Engine-Cover Splash Shield Right side. I of course identified missing and broken clips, various missing plastic pieces too. Nothing major. Just annoying that its missing. I'll have to do some more parts research to find everything. Not too expensive from what I can tell if I shop around. Thank you everyone for participating in my brief survey! LOL. Have a great day.

I have been focusing mainly on issues relating to our convertable top recently because I had an intermittent B2505 code. Today my replacement right side drive motor came in. Hope I have time to install it later and solve that problem. I know this site has several very knowledgeable people here that make it the best 2nd Gen SC430 site on the web. If I can be half as helpful as they are, it would be a privilege.

Sorry. My bad. I shouldn't have polluted the thread with unrelated information. It was actually a B2502 and I just finished changing the motor. All good now. But Thanks for the info. Now she goes for a well deserved wash.

LOL. Man did I ever mess up this thread! The B2502 is an open in the RH Roof drive motor circuit. I disconnected plug S-20 to the Sliding Roof control ECU in the trunk area and read the continuity between pins 2 and 6. Good circuit reading would have been approximately 1 ohm. Mine read between 40 and 50 thousand or K ohms. Ordered a replacement motor from ebay for $59.98 and installed it yesterday afternoon. Repair complete. All top functions restored. But like I have said before, the helpfulness of the members of this forum is what makes it great. Thanks for caring.
