Default naviks suggestion

Purchased a naviks unit for a rear camera upgrade. Thought it would be a simple install. I was wrong. Like a lot of messages I read here there are problems. The instructions say attach the BLUE trigger wire to reverse liights. There is no blue wire it is brown. The instructions say attach camera video rca to video 2 input on naviks box, there is no 1 or 2 choice, but 6 female rca plugs. 2 white, 2 red, 1 yellow, and 1 green. You would think the yellow camera feed would attach to the yellow input...no, you are wrong! it attaches to the green. You would think the directions would match the product. But the vender was very helpful.

I'm quite surprised that the instructions were difficult to understand. When I did mine, it was pretty straight forward. And as a side note, I've learned over the years of installs that just because one color means something for one manufacturer that it's not always the same on another (ie. Yellow for video isn't yellow for video on another wire harnesses). There was only one wire that I wasnt sure where to connect and I called the tech and they gave me an immediate response.

and also mine never said to attach to the reverse light but rather a wire in the harness by the dvd player for the reverse power signal.

Naviks is for backup cam not for music or phone.

I can mirror my wife’s iPhone 6, but my new X will not mirror. Anyone have any thoughts?

I saw a phone mirror function, and that was why I was wondering how music are sync?
Alternatively, I wonder if the phone bluetooth will connect to the Naviks phone mirror, and then to a bluetooth receiver for music.

Just a thought, as if it is possible then you can make a full setup with minimal cost without removing the radio... which would be nice.

Looking at Naviks website, they changed the way the rear camera interface was designed at some point. That's probably why when I called a few months back they were asking if I had the Silver or the black box for my car. The silver had a couple of RCA connections you plugged into, and the wiring everyone described. The new box looks like has different interfaces, plus an HDMI input as well

Default Naviks

My Naviks has the HDMI and I purchased an HDMI to Lighting cable for video output to nav screen to replace nav function and it does mirror iPhone 6. (But not iPhone X) I have not tried any audio from iPhone yet but will try once I get back home from trip.

Cool, let us know please.
Because a back up camera is really needed on the SC.

If I can get a phone mirror without taking all the radio parts out, then I am sorted.

The backup camera works like a dream - the installation, as mentioned in the above thread, is suspect as the instructions do not match the color of wires (brown instead of blue) as stated in the instructions. I have yet to call Naviks, about my iPhone X but the iPhone 6 does mirror. I suspect the X has a different resolution and does not match units capabilities or SC nav screen. I do not get audio out of either iPhone. iPhone 6 would need a headphone jack and X would need lighting port. I do have a video of the installation if you would like for me to send you.

My whole purpose for the install was the backup camera and I am very happy about the results. Hope this helps.
