Default Spare Tire Conversion Parts Kit Collection Completed

I want to install the spare tire conversion kit in the SC. However I am really not wanting to pay the price of parts from My Lexus Parts and let me say it may not be the price of the part so much as it is being required to grab my ankles for the shipping. A part that cost $128.42 comes with a shipping cost of $163.00 which is part 64716-24080-B0 which is the rear cover. So I started watching E-bay for the parts and today I picked up part 64711-24171-B0 which is the cover that Bgw 70 just made himself out of his trunk cover. I picked it today brand new for $39.00 plus $12.00 shipping which means out the door $51.00. My Lexus Parts wanted $74.42 plus shipping for the same part. So I will collect the parts as I find them on e-bay and go from there. Those parts are out there at a much lower price ya just need to look for them

Dennis

Found 2 more parts on E-bay

Part: 51900-91705 for $9.70 Free Shipping The MLP cost was $10.49 plus shipping.
Part: 51913-24020 for $29.70 Free Shipping. This part was $7.49 higher then MLP's but free shipping so it made it $10.06 cheaper.

I think with Bgw70's web page Megazip.net that he posted it is going to make the conversion kit way more cheaper.

Thanks Dennis for starting this thread. Salvage yard SC430 spare wheel kits are far and few between.

As you and others here have recommended, I’m going to follow acquiring the kit parts individually.

I like the RX8 alloy spare wheel/tire option - but I can’t find the specs on the tire dimensions. Anyone know this?

TIA

have you tried a search? The instructions are in the stickies or just click on the link below...when you locate the answer, please share the link to that thread in this thread...
everytime a new thread is started on the same subject, it makes it harder to find an answer when a search is performed...most answers to questions are already in a thread.
Please try to use the search and add to that existing thread.
thanks!

Below is an example of searching for “rx8 spare”.
Plenty of threads on the subject!

Indeed, the search function can be a beneficial tool. Similar to other forums, there are voluminous threads on the same subject. Often these threads take readers down rabbit holes and/or ultimately end with no definitive answer. I asked the above question after perusing many (no, not all) of the threads on this topic - to no avail. I was hoping that someone who has experience researching the RX8 spare wheel/tire as a substitute might know the tire spec off the top of their head.
Also, FWIW, when a Tire Rack sales person did a search on the RX8 spare tire, their system comes back with “No Spare”.

Order 2 parts today from the Megazip.net web page that Bgw70 posted on his thread. I ordered the 51938-24010 Bracket and the 64716-24080-B0 rear cover delivered here to Bella Vista, AR for a $162.17 total. That is 2 parts that MLP wanted a $168.85 for plus $163.00 shipping. I got them delivered from Japan for less than MLP wanted for shipping alone from CA.

Bgw70 great find. I did not order 64771-24043 the spare tire cover. When I get it all installed I am going to ask my wife to make some type of custom cover for the tire. All I have left is the tire and rim.

would like to see what the Mrs comes up with!
as for tire and wheel, you have many choices...I am happy with the IS350 and OEM SC430 spare. Others like the RX8 spare etc

The old Supra spares are an exact match. You can join a Supra forum and ask for one there, that's what I did and got a spare for less than $50.

Ok we had a setback in the parts collection today. We received a e-mail from Megazip.net that the rear cover part 64716-24080-B0 was to big to ship via the normal shipping.. They could ship it via Fedx for an addition $154. I took a pass on that part and will either find another supplier or delete as BGw70 is doing.

Received 2 more parts today that I bought on E-bay from Genuine Parts. Parts 51900-91705 and 51913-24020 have arrived. Picked up a set of the Pittsburgh Push Pin Pliers #63700 that Bgw70 recommended for pulling the trim plugs.
