I had my 2004 SC430 in for another issue (replace O2 Sensor) and mentioned that the Air Bag instrument cluster light had also come on recently, incidentally since they had just changed to airbag per the recall. The dealership said that was an "old code" and cleared it. I ahve owned the car 2 1/2 years and never had that code come on and no notes about that in previous owners meticulous notes.
However a few weeks later it came back on. I used my Bosch Code checker which said there were no codes. Hmmm. Therefore I could not clear it.
I call the dealership back and explained all of this and same customer service rep I dealt with before said it was likely "a problem on the passenger seat". I'm assuming a he is referring to a connection or something. Obviously I asked, "Then why didn't your people check that when I came last month?" Duhhh.
I am suspecting it to be a loose connection after the airbag recall fix but the dealership insists that cannot be the problem. Sounds like an asinine response, but maybe it's true.
Anyone else ever have this and what was your fix?

Your Code Checker most likely won't be able to read the SRS code. You will need to take it to the dealer, an independent Toyota mechanic or by the Toyota Code Reading software. You can get it for a reasonable price.
