I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but I will add to this thread as opposed to starting a new one.

BGW70 above noted the difference in manufacturers of parts included in the AISIN TKT021 kits sold by Rock Auto and Amazon. If the pieces in the kits are compiled by Aisin, then why would the idler bearing, tensioner bearing and timing belt come from different manufacturers? I was pretty much convinced that Mitsuboshi was the go to timing belt maker. Think I’d be irritated (at a minimum) if I ordered the Aisin kit and a Gates timing belt came out of the box. At this point I’m tempted to buy just the belt from a Toyota or Lexus dealer - tossing the one that comes in the Aisin kit. I haven’t read anywhere that Aisin makes the timing belt for Lexus.

Thoughts?

Have done a little more perusing re timing belt kits. I read the Gates warranty and noted that they guarantee the kit for either the recommended factory service interval or six years - whichever comes first. Their warranty also covers any related parts damaged if the belt should fail. So far I am only seeing 12 month warranty from other manufacturers - including Lexus/Toyota. I need to acquire their written warranty and read the fine print.

Has anyone weighed this 72 month warranty when purchasing their belt kit?
