Default Wind deflector for SC430

Has anyone installed a wind deflector for their SC430 convertible? Mine is a 2002. They go for about 300 on ebay including shipping to Toronto. Am trying to decide if it’s a worthwhile investment.

Do you have the plexiglass wind deflector inbetween the two rear seat headrests that is built into the car? Or are you talking about adding an additional one? If so, have you just tried driving with the door windows up? I find with door windows up, there is substantially less wind buffeting/noise.

I took the one I had to a shop to cut me a new one. The new one I'm getting is slightly thicker but will not yellow like the original one did. Cost me about $100,,, save some money instead of ordering on eBay...

I'm getting that the op wants more wind blocking than the standard acrylic one provides. Especially when trying to extend the top down season in Canada. If he's anything like me I hate putting the windows up, with the top down. I just hate that look. While I never had the acrylic and the additional wind screen in the sc430. I do have that setup in the camaro. I see two advantages in the screen. One is the obvious, you get a nice reduction in wind buffeting. Two it improves storage on the back seat. Less chance of it blowing the stuff around when put under the screen on the seat.

I think they are worth every bit of the money when you have more than a two seater. I have had one in two different convertibles now.

Actually I think putting ALL the windows UP with the top down looks kinda cool. Or, putting the top up with ALL the windows down looks cool too.

Yes. Rear window module. Ordered mine with the Luxlink. 3 down taps on the window switch moves the rear quarter windows up or down. Gives the opening profile of an airplane wing.

I figured tht was part of the Luxlink system. Tht system has to be the best mod available for the sc430. Might be getting one myself.

....actually the Luxlink is out of production now, but sometimes they pop up in the classified section. There is also a couple of mods to accomplish this also, you might check the stickys to see if you're interested. I went with the mod that ShawnOk posted, but my module was bad, so waiting for a new one (on back order)

I Have had wind deflectors in my SAAB's and my IS350C and they work amazingly well. When up they totally cut out wind issues in the front seats. However, in my SAAB and IS350C the mounting points are built into the car and look good when the deflector is not installed. The kits I have seen for SC430 require serious cutting into the interior trim and do NOT look pretty. I have held off getting a kit for the SC430 for that reason.

Actually if I remember right you can get the rear/quarter windows down with the top up...by pressing the... open the top button... until front and rear windows go down then let off the button.

But you can't get the rear windows up with the top down...unless you have some sort of quarter window mod. I think there was a post once about a window modulator...that wasn't Luxlink that did that.

You are all so helpful!!! Thank you! I will let you know how it goes.
PS. Yes I wanted more wind blocking than the standard plastic deflector but not if it requires a lot of cutting into the interior.

the only modification is attaching this bracket to both sides. I wouldn't call that a lot of cutting.
