Unhappy Crank but no start-Codes for ALL 8 coils

So, recently some rats decided to seek refuge under my hood for the winter and got the munchies during there stay. Took off the panels and saw obvious wires just GONE. So, at the time the CEL came on and threw 5 codes: P0118 Coolant Temp Circuit High, P0121 Throttle Pedal Position Sensor, P0122 Throttle Pedal Position Sensor Circuit Low, and P0222 and P2135... all related to the wires. Got all the wires back together and a new code came up... P0352 Ignition Coil B Primary/Secondary Circuit. We soldered all 4 wires on that harness. So I go to test the voltage on coming through the harnesses and unplug the throttle position sensor harness, which was completely chewed to the point that we had to re run new wire so I was double checking, unplugged Coil B and D to compare voltage between the 2 and unplugged the MAF to test voltage in there. I plug everything back in, go to start the car and it will crank... for up to 7 seconds. But it WILL NOT START. I had just pulled in after making a short 5 mile drive. It was starting up just fine... and now this. So I pull out 3 coils on the driver side and look for spark and nothing. P0352 is gone but now I have 8 others... P0351, P0352, P0353, P0353, P0354, P0355, P0356, P0357, P0358– all 8 ignition coil Primary/Secondary Circuit. Can someone please tell me what I screwed up?! Almost at the point of tears at this point.

Have you disconnected the battery for 30 minutes? Have you checked all engine compartment grounds? Did mice chew them up?

Grounds on the driver side fender are directly across from the ones on the passenger side they got cut off in the pic.

Definitely disconnected the battery but I haven’t checked the grounds yet. Any advice on how to approach/troubleshoot those?

Btw, thank you for the prompt response. I really appreciate it!

The lack of spark at all coils as you have said seems to indicate more wiring issues rather than anything else. In DC systems because of how voltage flows the grounds are just as important as the positive lead. Read this: http://www.fluke.com/fluke/uses/comu...agnosevoltdrop

If you’re not taking it to a shop you have to be willing to carefully run down all the wiring looking for damage caused by the rodents. It also means checking the continuity of wiring where you can’t see it but a rodent could chew on it. In addition I’m only assuming you correctly insulated the repairs you’ve already done and those repairs are correct.

Man, I feel your pain. Mice are the worst! Sometimes you get lucky and they chew the wire all the way through, but sometimes they just nick the wire enough to give you a bad connection.

If your car was working, and then you worked on it, and now it doesn't work. I would retrace your steps. Maybe you forgot to connect a harness or maybe you crossed spliced a red/white wire with a white/red wire. Or maybe when you were digging around, a wire that was barely hanging together became separated and you haven't found it yet.

You can google "sc430 engine" and look at pictures if you have wires you are not sure where they go to.

Since it is all 8 cylinders, I think it is something simple. SOMETHING THAT EFFECTS THE SYSTEM AS A WHOLE and not just one plug. Off the top of my head I would think it might be an ecu wire, or a theft deterrent wire or an ignition wire.

If things get too bad, you can always buy an engine harness off ebay. They are about $120

Hopefully these will help you on your inspection task. Remember, it’s not just a visual inspection, but it’s where you start then go to continuity testing for suspect areas. (These are 02 wire schematics. An 05 may be different.)

That is VERY HELPFUL! Much easier than trying to look at a grainy picture.

Are Splice Points where two harnesses connect together?
