Default Megan EZ Coilover life

What's the normal life for aftermarket coilovers? My Megans are 5.5 yrs old, with 40K miles. Started getting unstable steering last month at above 45 mph, and the sway is getting worse. It feels like I'm constantly counter-steering to keep the car straight. Traction control alarm has gone off more in the last month, than it has in the 9 years I've had the car. Gas mileage down by 10%. Checked the alignment twice, and the third time the mechanic suggested that the springs were going bad. Anyone with similar experiences?

So what next? Replace with New Megan EZ IIs? D2 RS? Is there another brand that is better performance/price?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I'll be following this as I'm in the market for some coilovers myself.

One way is to look for oil splashes in the wheel wells
Most coilovers brands have a shelf life of 60k miles
45k seems light,

I'll check for oil splashes this weekend.

Coincidentally, this started happening after my 90K service when they flushed out and refilled the differential and charged me for 2 cases of differential oil (later refunded). Could it be from that?

I'm surprised more vendors haven't chimed in offering a special on new coilovers!

no, the coil overs are like shocks and located by the wheels. The differential is in the center of the rear axel and that is where they perform the drain and refill

I meant, would improper service to the differential result in uneven power transmission to the rear wheels resulting in the steering problems I'm seeing, and traction control alarm being set off at normal turns?

No obvious oil in the wheel well, btw.

Did you know the coilovers are rebuildable?
I' m about to get the Megans EZ's and where I found them I asked if they would rebuild them, in case i need to in the future, it costs about $100 each.
I would take them out of the car and check if they still rebound, taking off the springs.
Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
