The self discharge rate is too high for me to use a std battery in my stored between use sc without wiring a trickl charger to it. Has to be an AGM for my weeks at a time storage use

I had stored my SC for several months while I messed with my latest project (2003 BMW Z4) When I went to start her up, the battery was dead ( not a huge surprise )

I couldn't get my AGM to take a charge and had to replace it.

BUT, I have to say. It lasted twice as long as my other batteries did. (The Arizona heat is killer on batteries)

According to the build date, it was 5 years old when it died

Overall, no complaints. ALSO, AGM batteries have really come down on price and they are much more readily available.

Yes, for a car that isn't driven daily, five years is a good lifespan in an SC! I'm into the second year on my AGM battery and so far, so good. I've been told that AGM batteries have a hard time taking a charge once discharged below a certain threshold. The trick to charging them is to hook a second battery to it in parallel while charging it. Or, buying an expensive $200 Optima battery charger! I've done both with success.

Next time I need a battery, I may try to save some money and go with the Costco 48-month battery. I've had good luck with Costco batteries in the past (before switching to AGM's).

Daryl

I have 3 of those. 1 in my 06 SC 430, 1 in my 2010 LS 460L and 1 in my sons 05 SC 430. The one in my 06 SC is dated Jan 2018 and still going strong.
