Default New Speaker Install

Hi All----

Made a decision to loose the 6x9 ML Speaker's that had the dreaded dry rot. That said, I read many post's and appreciate this forum for the pro's and con's regarding do's and font's and recommendations!

The speakers I purchased, Memphis-MClass, Model MCX57C: Set Includes 6x9 and Dome Tweeter.

They are 4 OHM, However, 8 OHM is almost non existence! The Audio Shop who performed the Install, they have installed many 4 ohm Speaker's in the Lexus SC430 without any returns for Burned up Amps!

Also had some MOJO Matt installed behind the speaker on the door.

The sound is amazing, reminds me of the ADFS 320I Speakers I had installed in my Celica back in the 80's. Bass, yes! Treble so much more detail compared to the ML. We did not replace the 4" Door speakers since they are in good shape!

Price for the Speakers is 270.00/Retail 320.00

On another note, while there, I had them replace the drivers door Actuator, kill 2 birds with one stone :-)

Here is some Pic's..

Looks good. I imagine that must be a huge improvement over dry rotted speakers!

Nice to have someone else install the actuators.

The model number you reference is for 5x7 speakers. Did you use 5x7 or 6x9?

Hi Harold,

For sure sound is much improved! Regarding the Actuator, I read your threads and was ready to show the installer to make sure they did it correctly, however he came out and told me he was able to figure out the install without my help! Long story short, after he replaced the Actuator, it worked then it stopped, You are not going to believe it, the Actuator I replaced with new was not defective, turned out to be the programming of the Remote/Key. I did try to program prior to purchasing the new part, following forum instructions..never could get the key to program. Turns out, I followed the directions and deleted one of the key memories- now it is working every time, both of my master Keys ;-)

Thanks again!
Bob

My wrong, it was the 6x9 version, not 5x7. Again, they fit great and sound fantastic! I cannot tell you how much better than the ML 6x9's since I never heard them when they both worked! I purchased the SC430 without test drive since it only has 14800 miles! The tread on the forum listing common problems mentioned the speakers so I was not surprised! The Memphis 6x9's are American made, We in the US have always had a great reputation for building great sounding speakers, hence my reason for purchasing them!!

Thanks,
Bob

Awesome Harold! Do you happen to have the exact model number. I'm considering another brand and wanted to compare the dimensions. I can't the 6x9 model that you have. The only 6x9 components I can find for Memphis is PRX69C. Thanks!

That's what I was thinking, but that would make it part of the Power Reference class and not the M-Class. Plus the cone looks different. But, I guess it wouldn't really matter as the mounting depths within the brand are probably similar. I'm looking to install the Infinity Kappa 90csx which has a mounting depth of 3.15". The PRX69C has a mounting depth of 3" according to their site. You've helped me in the past Bgw70, and as always, I appreciate it.
