Default Carpeted Seat Shield sc430

Hi, has anyone had to replace their carpeted seat shield yet? It's the piece in front of the driver seat that has some carpeting on it that wears over time from getting in and out of car. At least it did in both my Lexus SC 430s I've owned. It's held on by one screw near the console and some clips by the curved part near the door. I found the replacement part on line for $50, but I cannot get this screw out to replace it! The screw is installed upside down in a very tight spot under the seat. Anyone else has success with this? Here's a diagram showing the seat shield and that upside down screw.

I hate to say it, but my 06 with 118,000 miles looks brand new. I must never drag my foot across it getting in or out.

If you can't get the screw out with a 90deg. Screw driver. Then this is one of those times when what seems like the long/hard way is really the quickest/easiest way. So meaning removing the seat first, To gain access to the screw.

messing around the other way , strip the screw, scrape your knuckles. Then still end up having to pull the seat out.
