Default ECT question

driving around yesterday I switched the ECT control to the power setting.

noticed what seemed to be a torque converter lockup under no throttle where the normal position allowed the car to coast more?

plus the electronic throttle lag seems much less a low throttle openings. Required less throttle input to accelerate quicker.

normal? Are all years equipped with the same ECT unit.

The michelin tires seems to have almost eliminated the cars steering wander. Quick sharp steering. But goes straight.

have not checked the alignment yet. Supposedly done recently but the car does have two slightly bent rims from impacts.

unknown if before or after the latest alignment.

When you switch the ETC to Power mode, the transmission keep the lower gear to the max RPM allowable then switch to the next higher gear. That's what you experiencing.

Feel carefully as you turn on the ECT switch.

car slows down with throttle off. Switch off it rolls.

torque converter lockup in my experience.

Part throttle with the switch on accelerates the car. Switch off the dead spot is much more noticeable.

Also possible your 07 is different from my 08.

i build race engines and am trying to figure out exactly what the switches do.

i bought a blitz throttle controller to change the electronic throttle but my 08 seems to have it built in.

yours still coasts under no throttle conditions? Regardless of the ECT switch position?

and no difference in the throttle progression from no throttle in either position on the ECT switch?

An ECU reset (disconnect battery for 15 minutes or do the key ignition sequence (posted on this forum)) will clear the computer memory and your/previous owners driving style. Then hit the switch and check out the difference. I do an ECU reset every 3 months or so. Also I recommend cleaning out the throttle body every 3 months too. The performance and response is much different. ps. I also own the SprintBooster Electronic Throttle Control, only use it for stop light racing.
