Lexus Test Driver
I have a 2009 RX350 with the original maps. Park Place Lexus told me that updating very old maps with the newest maps doesn't always work so well and that if I did the install and it messed things up, it would cost me a lot more to go in and fix it than the $245 they were charging to do the update. Did you do your own install? From Youtube, I've just watched the person remove the old cd and put the new one in and the install took care of itself. And a couple of years ago, they quoted me $69 for the cd only, but now it's $169 - 205.
Was he the parts or service guy?
thats the equivalent of saying you should never let Microsoft give you another update on your home PC...the NAV equipment in you car is a computer.
if you want to update, go right ahead because Lexus tests these map builds for a specific group of models and if they say it is okay then it is okay.

i think so but the easiest way is to check the part number...do some research on the different part numbers and you will know for sure.

Always check the part number, look for the part number 86841-50090. That is the part number I used to replace the Gen 2/3
( Gen2/3 part number 86841-33060 ) unit in my 2004 SC430. The used unit I purchased was from 2005 LS430.
Here is a list of donor vehicles which should be accurate :
HIGHLANDER 04-05 player, navigation
LEXUS SC430 05-09 player
LAND CRUISER 04-07 player
LEXUS RX400H 06 player (GPS)
HIGHLANDER 06-07 player, (navigation)
LEXUS GX470 05-06 player
LEXUS LS430 04-06 player
PRIUS 04-05 player (navigation)
PRIUS 06 player (navigation), ID 86841-50090
LEXUS LX470 04-07 player
