Default Locks not working

I have a 2003 SC430 with 84,000 miles on it. The locks on both sides suddenly stopped working automatically. The car can only be unlocked from the outside with the key inserted in the door. The doors can only be operated from the inside by manually locking or unlocking each door on that door above the handle. Remote batteries are new. The Windows work fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause? Could it be a fuse?

Did you check fuses? Then check that wiring didn't come loose from the drivers switch.

In addition to the fuse that Cole suggested, did it just stop working today? I ask because when my car is in the sun and really hot, the door locks quit working because the door lock solenoids in each door are getting weak. Once the car is in the garage and it cools off the door locks will operate again.

We are both in hot Florida.

My key has a red led that flashes when you press the unlock button to show it's working. Does your flash? Do you have another key to test it with?

Coloroad had the right diagnosis. When I moved the whole plate slightly where the window and locks are on the driver's side all the automatic locks, both on the key and in the car work. It is obviously loose wiring under that plate. I need to get that fixed. Thank you

It is probably just a matter of pushing the wire connecter back on well.

Coleroad, how would I do that ? Would I pull the whole plate out? Would that uncover the wires?

Yes, here is a video for the door speaker replacement. At 4:30 mark he will show you removal of the switch plate.

Sorry Harold, when was looking for the video you hadn't posted yet. After I posted it i saw that you had already answered. I didn't remember seeing Mandyfig's thread before. Thanks for that, more good reading for me.

No worries. Both are good links to have! There's also another good link for replacing the triangle weatherstripping on the door (the one that causes the air noise after it rips). I can look it up if anyone needs that too. (It goes through the door panel removal also.)
