Default Disable DRL (using LED strips as DRL) but keep High Beam

Disable DRL via Techstream

Anybody has done the disable DRL? My LED High Beam went kaput (1 of them) and decided to dump them since I do not have my high beam option and really need it for safety.

I have purchased the whitest Halogen I can for the high beams but still gives me the “orange” DRL. Somebody has suggested the WHITE Halogens but am not sure it gives me the high beam that I need, I bet it does not.

Hence I am looking to just disable the DRL’s. I currently use LED strips as my DRL which is more than sufficient for its use. This LED DRL is controlled by a wireless remote.

Thanks in advance.

I G’d this and found an answer that this is indeed an option on the setting.

I will hook up my Techstream tonight on the SC and see if I can get to this option.

Got it!

I was able to disable the DRL using the Techstream. Now just using my 2 LED strips. Of course the VSC OFF and VSC lit up. Had a chance to use my tool...and it worked like a charm. Plug and Unplug. VSC lights are out!

Very nice write up Mandy, It's nice to see someone show a screenshot of the tech stream software, especially the area where you modify the settings in our cars.

The Techstream Software is well worth the $25 investment. Took me a while to load the program on my Vista laptop.

Now it works and I have used it to peruse over settings for all my Lexus and Toyota cars.

Flip of a switch!

I like the attention drawn by my contrasting DRLs. After all, getting noticed is the name of the game. Nevertheless, it's nice to know that disabling the OEM DRLs is an option.

StilLine I would have loved to put my DRL's where yours are but not feasible due to different design.

Next best location I found was in the grille.

Install pics for where I tapped for my Ignition switched power source (the old connection was always live and if I forget to switch it off via my remote, it will kill the battery).

With the remote I still have an option to switch it off, like at night.
