Default 2002 430 Climate Control LCD losing segments

Good afternoon

I assume that this is something that I am going to have to replace to repair but a couple of the number segments on the LCD display are not working.

Is there any fix for this or is the LCD just telling me that it is time for a new one?

Thanks in advance

I do not have an answer for you but I know there was a thread or two on this subject...

Try a search using, SC430 AC control LCD

More than likely you will have to replace the display. If you are electronically handy, you can attempt to disassemble the control unit and touch up the solder on the pins going to the display. Also, check out the cable going from the control board to the display. (The existence of a cable is an assumption on my part. I don't remember how it is assembled. The display could be just soldered down to the board without a cable involved.) If there is a cable, it is possible one of the pins has come loose on it and is no longer making a connection.

Assemblies like these are not generally made to be repaired. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Or you can replace the whole radio. Try fleabay for a whole set.

The bad news is that they are pretty pricey, even on eBay. The good news is that the swap will take less than 20 minutes.

Almost went the way of the whole unit swap. Ended up dumping the CD player (the dreaded CD stuck) and installing an AUX input, could not be happier.

He is missing segments or pixels in the LCD. The picture you are showing has all of them.

Mandy, he is referring to the climate control display, not the radio.

My bad...am always thinking about the radio...

But fleabay would still be a source for a swap on the LCD I would think.

You have to solder in a used lcd display (i did that and it works) or buy a new or used climate control and replace it all. i got a cheap defect climate control unit but the lcd was in 100% working condition.

...there was another thread here also concerning the lcd elements & someone posted a company that works on them. I don't think a price was posted, but could be more expensive than buying a used one

Help please 2002 SC 430 climate control stuck. Popo starting working fine when I left battery disconnected over night and next day connecting negative and positive terminals for couple of hours. The more I used control the less it work. The next day if I don’t shut the A/C off stays on but buttons are not working.

check to make sure the three connectors in the rear of the control are seated properly…if they are, you may need a new control, check eBay.
also, can you make a YouTube video to show us?

Could it be a ground issue?
