I too don't believe anyone is trying to be negative. I think that most of us are just saying to be cautious and are hoping to prevent you from making a mistake that could cause problems. Knowing what you are dealing with (salt and potential corrosion), I can fully understand why you'd want to take action. Hey if it gets you more years out of your car, more power to you! (Fortunately for me, I live in the Dallas area where very little salt is used, so I don't have to worry about it, for the most part.)
