ONR is just a highly lubricated car shampoo, not a protective coating, that does not require any rinsing after you wash a car's panel at a time.

No, ONR or even a ceramic coating does not protect against scratches per se. While a ceramic coating does protect your car's clear coat, it can be scratched itself. Micro marring on a clear coat or ceramic coating can occur by improper washing techniques. The two bucket method coupled with a high quality washmit and plush micro fiber towels for drying is a must to limit damage to your paint.
