Rear Quarter Window Mod??
#47
Shawn, this is what I was talking about in our text messages earlier this week:
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...-4-SMART4.html
I am attaching an installation manual for the WT-4 by Megatronix, but that one doesn't seem to be available anymore. This SMART4 looks like an exact copy. It is designed to either roll up 4 windows with and alarm or provide up/down control for 2 windows.
It has two inputs. One for Up and one for Down. They are grounded to activate. These connect in parallel with the existing motor wiring just like the relay mod. All connections marked F/L or F/R SWITCH would be the Hardtop ECU instead.
It would be spliced right at the roof ECU which is under the trunk liner on the driver's side. All connections can be made there except for the switches.
Some creativity would allow you to re-use the roof open/close switch since this module only needs a momentary pulse and the roof has a little delay (meaning if you just tap it, the quarter windows operate, hold it and the roof operates.) Those signals are at the roof ECU.
OPEN S17-1
CLOSE S17-7
SWE (common) S17-18
That could take some experimentation because SWE is open IIRC unless all conditions for roof operation are correct. But when it is all correct, the switches are held high until the buttons are pressed and then they ground. Perfect for this module.
Not saying one concept is necessarily better or worse, just dumping some of the materials I had already created for the mod. I really, really wish I had more time to play I miss working on the SC430!

Zimmer: My 4PDT relays and bases finally arrived this week. Now searching for the perfect miniature, momentary, rocker-switch (possibly an illuminated type) to install on the coin-holder-cover.
[suggestions/links from anyone here would be appreciated]. We're now in our "....it'll-be-100-degrees-everyday-til-september" month here in SC, .... so I have some time to find the perfect switch before the install begins.
Is your now roof working again?

I sited my switch above to trunk/fuel cap switches and I have since added another so that I can open either the drivers quarter or both.
Cheers
