Folks the RF's are in! And I say, thank you thank you! Happy with the results. Here are some photos of my install. I did go to a pre-fab MDF board speaker mounts. I figure the plastic casing was not adequate and secondly I was just killing time. The speaker was 6 pounds! The 1/4" MDF board was $7 at Home Depot( 2 x 4 feet). With a jig saw, it was a breeze to get it cut out. Then it was just bolt in and done! Key was to make sure you have the right screw bolts, the original will be a tad short. Luckily I had some available.

PICS!

Very nice. The wood trim may give a richer tone. Are you planning on doing a bracket for the rear speakers?

I did the replacement foam surrounds from ebay, not as sexy as the Rockfords but made a huge difference for $20. I ordered the new surround for the sub yesterday, can't wait to install it sounds like straight doo doo.

Just a quick question...what is the size of the mid-range speaker?

The one's FJ, mandyfig, and I used was a 6.5" (PSS8-6) midrange, while I just found out that RF is making 8ohm, 8" full subs now (PSS8-8)! Would be really interesting to find out if these would fit in and/or could be modded for our doors!!! Any volunteers to lead this new project with the 8" 8ohm? I'm all tapped out of cash or I'd love to be the guinea pig.

I followed the suggestion to refoam my speakers. It was fairly easy and definitely cheaper than new speakers. Sounds great, thanks to all who supplied info.

Any one going to mention the results? How is the output? 6x9's are known for more mid-bass....which is nice to have. Are the 6" speakers any better?

If your speakers are in good shape, you'll have good sound. The ML system is a good system when it is working fully. If not, it'll sound like you have bad speakers.

Rockford 6" with 8ohm rocks in our sc430.
I followed the instruction from here and did them on both doors less than 2 hrs.
The plastic 6x9 adapter set was too narrow/small for this giant magnetic .... Dremel + sander+ sound deadened = rock solid mid range with no extortion.
A day after my upgrade, my wife asked me to do the same for her too. I knew that was coming.... I had ordered 2 sets of 6" Rockford. I am happy with this mod.
Thank you
Ned

Thanks for the posting Ned and glad you thought it was easy too. Everyone that gets in my car now is amazed. Rockford plus Shawnok's rear sub really changed my ride.
