Default LCD panel missing some parts of display

My panel showing temperature and MPG has some parts of the numbers missing. Any solutions?

Are you saying that the LCD has segments burned out, like 8 becomes E?

Replacing the entire climate control system would be very expensive -- $300 to $400 used.

Yes. Some of the segments are burnt out.

It is possible that there is a bad connection with a cable somewhere in the path.

Agree with Harold...

First thing I'd try is to pop the climate module out, disconnect the 3 multi-pin connectors on the back of it, and plug them back in, to ensure they're seated properly.

If that makes no difference and you're really feeling brave and froggy, there are a few ribbon connectors inside the climate module itself that could also be carefully unplugged and reseated, to make sure it's not the LCD panel itself.

If it is the LCD panel, you'll probably have to replace the whole climate module, as finding the LCD panel alone would be challenging.

My LCD read out for temperature also seems to be fading. But once I drive for a while it is fine. I did recently pull out the AC unit while installing an isimple. I wonder if there is a connection loose? It seems equally as likely the LCD readout is dying, as my car is 11 years old. I had the same problem with an ls400 and would stair at the burned out LCD and be upset every time I looked at it. If my LCD goes I will definitely replace, $300 or $400 on the replacement part is nothing for a Lexus :-)

Does the back light work so you can see the information displayed at night. I have seen when this module is removed for the first time when your installing a mod if you squeeze to tight in the pulling and wiggle that can damage the back light.

My climate control also has the exterior temp having pieces not displaying and also the period in the MPG!

Thats odd that it's the exact same problem as the OP.....is there a fix for this?
