Radio trouble - anyone have this problem?
I have a 2002 SC 430. Just was selling the car. On the day they picked it up this happened:
Door in front of radio stopped working
Radio display blanked out - looks like the radio is off, but it does work.
All of this just before the battery died. The battery has been charged, but the radio still does not work. Has anyone seen this? We checked all 4 fuse boxes and did not find any blown fuses. Not sure if there are any fuses behind the radio. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I had this same problem last year. There is a micro switch behind the door that senses the door position and powers the motor to open and close the door as well as turn the radio display on.
The HVAC controls just above the audio door are held into the dash by spring clips. Pull the HVAC control panel straight and it will pop out of the dash, allowing you access to above the radio door and micro switch.
My arm/roller assembly that contacts the micro switch was not moving smoothly. Pushing it manually freed it up. The radio light then came on and the door mechanism worked.
However, after that I quit tempting fate and now leave the door open at all times.
The micro switches and door motor can also fail. You may be able to find information on the switch and replace it, but from all I have seen on the forums the switch is not available as a part by itself. At the time I investigated it there was a radio repair shop in Texas that can overhaul the radio, however, it must be removed from the vehicle and shipped to them.
