Default Electronic question.

I can manage most mechanical tasks on the SC, but when it comes to electrics, I have my limitations.
Probably why my LuxLink is still sitting on the shelf.

I wonder if any of you electronic guru's on here may be able to answer this for me?

Fitted some aftermarket DRL's and the switch box that controls them 'senses' the higher voltage when the engine starts and turns the lights on. When the ignition is turned off the lights stay on for 30 seconds after(see me home feature).
Problem I have is, when the switch box is connected to the battery direct (as per the instructions) the voltage must fluctuate and the lights go off when the voltage drops and come on again when it increases.
Is there somewhere on the car that I can connect the positive to, that is controlled by a constant voltage regulator (that's what they used to be called)?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Best regards
Steve

The easiest solution might be to take a trip to your local Lexus dealer and have the C-BEST setting for the headlights changed.

If you look at page 5 of the C-BEST settings (Link here), section 8, "LIGHT OFF DELAY". Have the dealership change this to "OFF" and your problem should be solved (your DRL's will turn off when the ignition turns off...because that's when the headlights will now turn off).

Just my $.02...but I don't know much about electronics <grin>

Thanks Habious

I probably have not explained my problem properley.
In the UK, we don't have DRL's like you have, in fact none of the SC's have any form of DRL.

A few years ago Audi started fitting LED DRL's and most Manufacturers have followed suit.
In 2011 it became law in the UK that all new cars were fitted with low energy(LED) DRL's.
There are now lots of different aftermarket DRL's available. I didn't want the 'Audi' look so have replaced the fog lights (that I never use) with round DRL's.
The law says that LED DRL's have to turn off when your lights come on so as not to dazzle oncoming traffic.
Everything works fine with the new lights, but the control box has to have a constant voltage so it 'knows' the car is running. The DRL's come on and go off randomly and I am told the positive connection should be from a source that goes through a voltage regulator.
There is nothing wrong with the lights as they work perfectly when tested.

Best regards
Steve
