VSC Lights Turn On Only When I Drive
Hey all, it's been a while since I've posted here. I have a question for you.
They seem to only come on once I start driving.
I plugged in my scanner and it says I don't have any codes. Any thoughts to why they're coming on and how to fix?
- When I start my car, no VSC lights.
- When I put it in Drive and drive for a few seconds, both VSC lights come on.
- The next morning, the same thing happens..start my car no VSC lights, start driving, VSC lights appear.
They seem to only come on once I start driving.
I plugged in my scanner and it says I don't have any codes. Any thoughts to why they're coming on and how to fix?

Redliner... try reseting your VSC. Follow this link...

I had to reset mine last year. For some reason my OBD2 scanner caused the error when I unplugged it. I simply used a paper clip to reset the pins and it worked great! No more light. Give it a try.

I may have missed it but your link to another set of commenters is mentioniing it being a oxy bank issue as well...I'd like to hope my wheel sensors aren't bad (though I replaced 1 last year!).'
Anyways, my check engine light is NOT on as well (as some of these folks suggest in their diagnosis).. Unless my car didn't like the body shop cloud of paint from rear bumper, I'd like to hope its just a paper clip solution, which I'd try...but:
=the link one of you supplied is for a LS, and mentions oxygen bank one! What are the other wonderful things that coupld pop up--I thought this was just a 'simple' clip in for ONE issue, the VSC!
=I'm not clear as to how a wire reset could keep ANY problem from recurring-is a handheld scanner able to reset the vsc issue or just show it?g
Can I screw something up worse with the wire/clip in the wrong hole(s)?
Again, this is a 2002 sc430.
Thank you

Buggeroff,
The 01-05 SC somehow get this problem anytime you plug in the scanner. Don't know why. Just build the plug and reset the light. It only cost few bucks.

Build the plug?
What does build the plug mean? My car is 2002 SC430 as well. It also has the VSC light on only when I begin to drive. It comes on with or without CEL light being lit.

You should read entire thread for better understanding of the issue.

I am having the same issue with my 02. I did build the reset plug as shown in the previous post. Is has worked in the past but is now not working. Turn off the car and they go out. When it is restarted it stays out until the car moves in either direction.
