Default Bulbs!

Finally got Ebony back with some new lights!

168 LED bulbs: License Plate (sorry for the bad pic in the garage, will take another at night)...easiest change and mod ever to the SC!!! LOL wish they were all this easy!

168 LED bulbs: Front driving lights. As you all know, access only through the sidewall, turning the wheel all the way OR removing wheel which is what we did. 6000k or so color, matches my fogs but a little too blue for my stock HID lights, so guess what??? I'll be getting some new 6k or 8k's!

H3 Fog Lights HID Kit: 6000k color, very nice. Nicer than the stock 4500k or 4200k HID low beams. I am doing all of them now...this is addictive!

My DRL's match the fog lights and 168 driving lights, but flicker a little. I talked to our CL vendor who I got them from to see if I can just get the new decoders they have to see if that stops the flick.

I'm very pleased so far...have some more 194/168 bulbs to do. I wonder if the side markers on each quarter panel look good under the colored lenses...or is it a waste? Maybe I'll just do the interior lights

Wish I could have taken credit for the DIY, but my new favorite candy store for cars did it!

Once I do my low beams with 6000k or 8000k they will match or be close enough to all the others.

The new bulbs look very nice. Definitely upgrade your interior, trunk and reverse lights with LEDs. If your DRLs are still flickering you may want to try V-LEDs module found here http://www.v-leds.com/Exterior-LED-B...orLanding/true
I installed their 6K DRL LEDs and module today and there is no flickering. The passenger side is easy with the air box removed but the drivers side was a beast. Just takes patience. I'm going to tackle the fog lights and parking lights next.

Thanks! Yours look great too- you can't tell but I have the same bulbs from the same vendor 68 smd led bulbs.... Installed thm two years ago love the color but the flicker because at the time they hadn't developed the decoder on have on yours, so I asked thm if they could just send me the decoders so I can fix. Good bulbs!

When I upgrade the low beams to 8k they Will all match

Will LED lights generate more heat? I have some home LED lights and they have massive heat sinks.

They draw less watts but produce more heat, I think.

EDIT:

Sorry for the confusion.
Led bulbs might produce more heat, but not in the form of IR radiation.
Incandescent bulbs produce more heat in the form of IR radiation.

Perhaps the article via the link below can explain it better.

Looking good... I was going to go with your setup, after researching the light level of LED vs Halogen vs HID, I went with hid Fog and Headlights...

Good job on the install

LEDs do not generate more heat than incandescent or HID. In fact they generate less. This is why they are more efficient. Same number of lumens for less total watts. Example A 60 watt incandescent bulb produces about 800 lumens. A Sylvania 12 watt LED bulb produces about the same lumens. Remember, Lumen is a measure of light. The difference is mostly heat generated by the incandescent. LEDs generate less heat for the same amount of light.

Hmmm, all the LED lights I use at home have massive heat sinks and they get really hot. I also heard some LED DRLs getting very hot too.

I guess it is not the LEDs generating heat, then is it the socket?

Incandescent builts use a coil (like a heating coil) to generate light, so the heat is spread out over space. It is also has open space around it to help dissipate heat. LEDs are tiny little ICs that have no thermal dissipation area and so requires a base to pull the heat away from it because the bit of silicon that constitutes the LED is not large enough to handle several watts of heat.

That makes sense. So the LEDs generate less heat overall but it is more concentrated.

Where did you get the (Daytime Running Lights) "DRL"? Link?

I had my dealership install newer DRL and they put the lights crooked, it was soo way off.
Is there a way to aim them? (2002-2205 headlights).

p.s.
I read somewhere that the DRL have low wattage, and the LED's look "less" brighter than the OEM yellow looking DRL's?
