Just purchased a 2006 SC 430 while home on R&R. Got tired of coming home every 6 months and having to "borrow" a vehicle to get around in. Was originally looking at BMW, Mercedes and Audi's. Happened to drive onto the Lexus lot and noticed this beauty sitting there. Not having ever seen a SC 430, my interest was heightened. Took it for a test drive and was very impressed. Was informed that it was a CPO vehicle and it gave me an additional 3 years, 100K warranty.
Continued shopping and test drove the ones I was originaly looking at, but the SC kept haunting my thoughts. Needless to say, I am the proud owner of the aforementioned vehicle and simply love it. There are some slight issues with it, but nothing major. It does have a bit of wind noise when the top is up, but it is a convertible after all. The ride is a bit harsh, but it still has run flats on it.Would like the exhaust to be a bit more throaty. But the worst thing is after I leave in Dec I wont get to drive it until May when I get back. But that should make the next 6 months go by that much quicker.
I really am glad that I happened upon this forum as it will give me ideas of what I want to do to the car while I am gone so it will be ready for me when I get back. Looking forward to reading more as this has become my second stop once I log on, e-mail still takes priority.
Thanks for all the valuable info
Your ride will improve substantially after you ditch the runflats. In the meantime make sure your tire pressure matches the recommended PSI on the drivers door.
I would also recommend conducting searches on this site for tires and exhaust to give yourself a better idea of what others have done and what they think of these topics.
Be sure to check out the stickies at the top of the forum page. There is lots of good data made available there.
As sixonemale mentioned, the wind noise is a fairly well known issue, though most of the dealers will feign ignorance about it. It is a rip in the triangle weatherstripping piece that goes around the mirror mounts on the two doors. If your window extends much up through the weatherstripping, more than likely you will need to adjust the window height also, otherwise your new weatherstripping will only last a few months before it tears again.
Congrats! Welcome home and welcome to the best ride of your life! Spend some time at the top of the forum in the SC section and read through the common questions about mods, dependability, etc etc. Good reading! Please post some pics so we can drewl.
I would be happy to take care of it for 6 months for you...
You will find so much information, positive advice and guys who are really into this car. Unlike a lot of forums, everyone has the same size di... uh, car, so the one-upmanship is pretty nil.
