'06 SC430, top was working perfectly, but with some air leakage. I inserted some small soft tubing into the hollows of the seals and adjusted the latches for tighter seal. Worked perfectly, BUT next time I had the top down and put it up, the quarter windows didn't close. When I tried to recycle, the cycle would run just a couple of seconds, then stop. If I pressed the button again, it would do the same. I can get the top to go all the way down or up in tiny steps by pressing the button many times, but even then the quarter windows still do not close. Thanks for any suggestions.

 

]The sliding top is a complex piece of engineering with more than 20 switches and motors which all must remain in sync to work properly. Sounds like your "adjustments" and additions may have altered some of the synchronization. I'd suggest the following to begin with:

• Get the top all the way open or all the way closed.
• Remove added materials and readjust the latches (undo what you did)
• disconnect the battery for at least five minutes
• then reconnect and try to operate the top.

 

Thanks for the suggestion. I should've mentioned that I did take out the seal expanders and loosened the latches so they wouldn't be providing any restriction, but with no change.

Your suggestion did, however, remind me of a step in the failure process that I had forgotten, and might possibly be important. After I made the adjustments, I closed the top a couple of times, and the latch mechanism wouldn't snap into the final locked position. I thought the seal expanders I had installed might compress some, so I cycled the top a couple more times, and that's when it quit working properly. I know a fuse didn't blow, because it still operates, but is it possible I overloaded some component and it failed without blowing a fuse? Or that a limit switch got moved?

Is there any way to recalibrate the top controller module other than disconnecting the battery? Thanks for all your help. Hope I can return the favor on here some time.
