Default My '03 SC430 and Desert Lexus of Cathedral City

Desert Lexus of Cathedral City… Their quality of service was not what I’ve been accustomed to in the past by other dealerships.

I had a wonderful example from my father of how to service and keep up a vehicle. I was taught to bring in a freshly cleaned car to be serviced, because if they see a pampered car they will respect it when being serviced. With Lexus we’ve all been accustomed to “a higher standard for quality of service.”

In the last thirty or so days I’ve had my ‘03 SC430 in for its major 90k service at Monterey Lexus.. The car came back to me in good condition other than the engine compartment was dirtier than I brought it in.. all’s good, I took care of it. After that I brought the car into the best paint specialist in many counties and had the front, rear bumpers, and engine hood repainted. They take the individual parts off and do a major prep and paint. They also restored the leather… Both Monterey and Desert Lexus once told of the work said, “What a great paint job, wow! Your car looks brand new.”

Onto last week. I took vacation to Palm Desert and my AC failed (it was over 100‘). Desert Lexus said that the AC component that was behind the dash had failed. They also said, ’we don’t see this happen often.’

On receiving my newly restored car back 1. Both the seats were filthy (no joke) with grease. 2. The threshold and foot carpet was filthy with grease. 3. There was an oily film throughout most of the cabin. 4. An after market Bluetooth Parrot device was put back with 3 inches of cording exposed which wasn’t that way when they got it. No cord was visible before. 5. There was a pink dried, once liquid substance on the entirety in the engine compartment. 6. I had taken out my tire sensors (TPM)…they reconnected the wires to the dash light and refuse to disconnect it. (refer to previous post on this subject) 7. There was a large waxy substance on the rear bumper.

They sort of cleaned the seats, carpet and wax off the bumper.. I didn’t ask them to bring it back to a better condition for fear of something more happening (‘fear of reprisal‘) to my car.

On talking to George the G.M., I received tone and indifference. Also when I was in the waiting area another customer was having issues with George and said, “ I continue to have issues with your dealership and receive little to address my concerns. This is the worst damn place and I will never set foot here again.” George and nothing for him. George seems to be totally indifferent to Lexus customers and their issues or the need to provide accustomed high quality service.

I did call Lexus Corp and tell them of my experience… It is being processed.

I had the honor of paying $1,996.00 to receive cold air and to have my car raped without as much as a ‘thank you very much.”

I have had many problems with George and this dealership over the years. $4200 for timing belt and water pump. They put a dent in the front bumper and denied it. I should have taken pictures first. This is one of the biggest rip off dealers in the country and you should stay away from them!!

Best thing you can do is leave reviews on yelp and google maps. It looks like they already have a few bad reviews on yelp.

I suspect that your informing Lexus Corp about the situation will bring some needed attention to the subject. At a time when their bottom line is down (economy & Japanese situation), an additional black eye is not something a company that prides itself on service and attention to detail will want to go unnoticed.

Unfortunately there's not much corporate can do. Lexus dealerships are independently owned, so corporate has no authority over them. I had a problem with Lexus of Las Vegas and reported them to corporate. They called the service manager (who I'd already spoken to) and asked them to correct the problem, but he refused.

Thanks guys.. I have since posted to Yelp.
BTW, Also when in the waiting area, one service reps was talking to an older women (she had a walking stick..old) and told her she needed the high mileage service.. He quoted $3,500. I don't know the model of her car but can't imagine most any Lexus requiring a general high mile service that would cost that amount.

Wonder if it's worth hiring some of the "Occupy Wall Street" crowd to picket the dealership until you get satisfaction. I remember one guy did this with a car dealership in San Diego for months and finally got satisfaction. Seems like those folks would love to picket the greedy Lexus dealer.

Makes me sick to the stomach when people try to dupe other people.
