Hmmm...I can't find the answer?
I'm listening to a CD in the car and my radio antenna still goes up. Is there a sequence of buttons or something to lower it since I'm not listening to the radio?
I did an advanced search, but could not find anything and I know I've read something about this somewhere...frustrating...

IIRC, there is a C-Best setting for that.

You need to turn the RDS off. I'm pretty sure it's press-and-hold to turn it off (should beep).
The RDS is digital data about each station that our radios can receive and decode. Shows the channel name, genre, etc. on the screen.
If it's enabled, the antenna will always be up, to receive the data. If you turn it off, you don't get the exta info on the screen, but the antenna is only up when you need it.

That's exactly what it was! I turned it on for info in the station. You do need to hold it in until it beeps and then viola...antenna went down. It was driving me crazy!
I then had something else weird happen driving on the highway and I went to turn up the volume a tad and it wouldn't turn up or down. I could use the other button to cycle through the bass, treble, etc, but it wouldn't allow me to change those settings either, but everything else worked??? I powered the head unit off and back on...no difference. When I got home I shut the car off and started it back up and all is well???
Now I'm even more confused!

I think the difference is the Vais SLU iPod interface for the '02 uses the FM to cycle between FM1, FM2, Aux1 and Aux2. When I select CD, the antenna goes down, but I can't listen to the iPod.

Interesting. On both my 02 and now my 05, I only listen to CD or iPod via the Vais unit (I had the SLU on the 02) and antenna NEVER goes up. Antenna only goes up when I hit FM or the MODE button. mmmmmm???
