Default greasing zerks

Hi, I have not crawled underneath to look yet, but I’m sure there are zerks that need to be greased.

Has anyone here done this and how many zerks are there also what grease did you use? Thanks.

Automobiles don't use zerks for many many years now... All is sealed and "maintenance free"...

I had to google what "zerks" were lol.

Stolen from Wikipedia for anyone else that's curious.

"A grease fitting, grease nipple or Zerk fitting is a lubrication fitting used in mechanical systems to add grease with a grease gun. The fitting is permanently installed by a threaded connection leaving a nipple connection the grease gun attaches to. By using the pressure in the grease gun, grease is added to the system through the grease fitting. Generally a spring-loaded steel ball is fitted to the internal side of the nipple inlet passageway to exclude dirt intrusion and function as a check valve to prevent grease escaping back out of the nipple."

LOL yes I recently greased the u-joints on the LX450 and tacoma but didn't think about the SC430. I'd be surprised to find that the sc's joints and driveshaft don't need greasing ...i need to look into this further this weekend.

Makes me feel old when people say that have to look up what a grease zerk is. On another note some after market manufacturers do still install grease zerks. It's by far not the norm these days though. The bad part about grease able parts was people ( including mechanics) would over fill them. Once the boot seal was broken dirt and water entered quickly ruining the joint. For some reason people tended to think you should fill until grease came out.

Agree, many of the Moog parts installed on my cars have zerks...I too must be old school, I am glad they are there.
