Default What is with the Headlight Washers??

OK - a couple of times by mistake I pushed the release for headlight "washer" and washer fluid sprayed all over my hood!! I read the manual and it says that this happens if you push the washer wand end inward to squart washer on windshield and the weather is below a certain degree and/or the headlights are on. I realized this is exactly what I had done, however my goal was washing windshield not my entire hood!! I don't get why one would even want this series of conditions to activate headlight washer - let alone making a mess all over the hood.

However, manual said that if you release washer mist to the windshield by pushing the washer wand up towards you then you don't activate the headlight spray. And ofcourse you have an entire other button to just wash headlights. Anyone know if there some way to make the headlight spray more directed to only the headlights?? I couldn't even see where the spray comes out from.

Get somebody to push it and watch what it does. I may have to get somebody to do it for me too.

I think mine might have gone off once in two years, (but not sure) the car usually never needs to have the washers activated. To me the option is not worth very much, I think I would rather have a smooth bumper.

I thought it was cool when I first bought the car, but after thinking about it, I realized it's not really useful for me. Namely because of what happened to you, it leaves watermarks/streaks on my hood and down the bumper, making it look dirtier than before.

It's worth watching once. You may be surprised how far that thing jumps out of the bumper. It's no wonder it sprays liquid all over the hood.

If I want to see something cool, I'll rent a movie or something.

Spraying while driving will lower the aim… Reducing the amount of fluid spayed on the hood.

My car has covers over where I believe the headlight washers are located, so I assumed there were not installed, however, one night a few weeks ago I needed windshield sprayed and I got spray some where around the front grill. ???? I'm confused and will refrain from using the washer at night or with the lights on.

These aren't just covers... These are the actual sprayers!

Just spray in short bursts...

Lights on + long burst of spray (more than 3 seconds I beleive) Will spray the headlights.

Actual sprayers....? Do they flip open? I guess I should have my wife push the spray button with the lights on and watch what happens.
