Top Gear never has anything good to say about Lexus cars.
With that being said, I'd put on a set of 20's and Tein CS coils and the car will drive like a champ.

I think it's pretty clear that the PURPOSE of this "review" was simply to diss the car. Three people get together and all write down their opinion of "what is the worst car on sale today," and it just so happens they all choose the SC430? Yeah....sure, as if that would really happen. What a coincidence that it fit in perfectly with their scheduled review of the car, hmm? The whole thing was setup.

To people who know about the SC430, this review comes across as rather ignorant. The guy driving the car seems to intentionally NOT tell the whole story on the things he's complaining about. And a lot of it is simply HIS opinion.

I pretty much decided I couldn't trust what he was saying when he praised the ML stereo system.

When it comes down to it, no matter what the press says.. the SC is still the most reliable car in its class out there. Case Closed.

No question the michelin non run flats improved the ride. I never think of mine as a coupe. Top down all the time. Its a luxurious cruiser i find perfectly blended together...when you factor in very reasonable used prices. And the amazing interior still turns heads!

I remember my dad telling me that he got compliments all the time on the car and that i can expect them till i sell it. The other day for lunch i was getting take out and noticed outside a couple were staring at the car for a good couple minutes, pointing to the interior, taking a few laps around the vehicle, admiring the wheels and lines, then they got into their mercedes e class.

Granted the couple were in their 60's, but for an 8 year old car come march with 150k miles, it puts a smile on my face even when i'm not driving it.

+1 , In the end it's up to what you want. There's not too many options if you want a hardtop convertible: Lexus SC430, Mercedes SLK, Infiniti G37, and Volkswagon EOS...I think that's all of them.

I think Lexus made one major, unforgivable screwup when it made the SC430...it named it the "SC430".

And everyone says what a horrible "Sports Coupe" it is.

It's NOT a Sports Car...it's just not. and I don't think it was ever intended to be.

People complain about how heavy it is for a Sports Car...and how it wallows in the corners, like a Sports Car shouldn't.

Hey, LS owners out there, how many people have ever complained that your car was "too heavy"?

I think when you have a group of Brits discussing a Japanese car, you can expect the answer/review received

The SLK is too small, SL500 too expensive to maintain, G37 convert~got a g35x now, want something more luxury, Volkswagon EOS ~ looks cheap and ugly, 2007 335ci is nice but the sc430 has more value and more reliable

If I were in the market today for a hardtop convertible, and I am not as I remain delighted with my 10 year old SC430, I would consider the BMW 3 series convertible, and if money were no object, perhaps the M3 Convertible. Despite being a much larger car, I think it's the closest comparison. The others mentioned are smaller, lighter and generally not very luxurious at all. The SC, however, seems to be unique in its size, weight, power, and comfort. Despite its flaws or shortcomings, it's the perfect car for me and I'm glad I'm not in the market for cars at this time.

Ditto on what tfisher said.... And when you do buy it, I betcha you make some mods. Remember the one big drawback on either 02 and the 04 are the technology upgrades since then. Otherwise it's a great car. BTW you should take a look at the NAV DVD's date... they're about $200 for a new disk and current version, 10.1 was just released in Sept.
