To loosen the nut I put a flat head screw driver and tapped it with a hammer counterclockwise, very easy to remove. As far as aftermarket quality here is an indication. I installed a simple tech aftermarket iPod adapter which hooks up to th antenna jack behind the head unit and is rf modulated. The unit is powered to block out any radio transmissions. With the oem mast the station still got through. I just replaced the mast yesterday with one from antennamastsrus 13$ off ebay. It works fine but does not grab a signal strong enough to interfere with my iPod adapter. For once I am happy a product is inferior to oem.
Does anyone have the information/instructions to gain access to the SC430 antenna motor? The plastic has broken off inside the motor so I'll have to get to it to see if I can remove it. Thought I would read up on it before I dived in.. (-:
I've done a "Search", but was unable to come up with the instructions. I've read them before so I know they're there, but I was unable to find.
Sure enough that's what it was. The nylon worm that works the antenna up and down was broke inside the motor. Opened the motor and removed the nylon worm and checked for reason for it breaking and reasembled. Total time about 3.5 hours. Not complicated at all. Just time and patience. All good now.
Thanks, meant to throw a big thanks for the instructions to you...so Thanks. Helped a lot. Damn.....sure have to remove a lot of stuff.. It was almost fun..(:
