Default Top down in the rain

My biggest complaint with this car has been that you have to come to a complete stop to put the top up and down. Yesterday I was driving on the I-95 expressway and It started to rain really hard. Then I noticed something I hadn't thought of with the car. Not one drop of water hit me or the interior as long as I kept the car above 40 mph. There was no shoulder for me to pull off and traffic behind me, there was no way that I could stop the car for at least 10 miles. Maybe you all had known this but I had never read it in the form and thought it was something good to pass along. An absolute downpour not a drop of water hit me. Lexus life is good.

Yup...something I thought every convertible owner new.

Then I saw a Mythbusters episode where they tested this...and they were AMAZED to discover that it's true; if you drive fast enough in the rain, you'll stay dry in a convertible with the top down!

You do not have to come to a complete stop. The roof works up to 5 mph.

I want to know how you got above 40 MPH on I-95. Clearly you were not in the Washington DC metro area. We never get out of first gear.

Yes it's true, if you go fast enough.... Here is the link to the Mythbuster's episode on it.

The bra can be ordered from most Lexus dealers but I found mine on Ebay. The caliber covers came from a local company in the San Diego, www.calipercovers.com. I took my 02 in and they used it as a prototype for fitment.

Especially true in a smaller convertible...my Honda S2000 or rx-7 convertibles never saw a drop of rain inside during a steady rain.
