Default DVD upgrade 'disc error"

I have a v3.1 gen 2/3 original disc that came from a 2004 RX330 to upgrade my DVD. I used an installation that included removing the "radio 1" fuse for 2 minutes then replacing the fuse and then put the new DVD disc , but I am getting a disc error. The disc is not scratched and did work in athe RX330. I checked with Lexus and it is the correct part number for my vehicle ( and the rx330) any suggestions?
Some installations say just replace the disc, others say to remove the fuse.
I upgraded the 2004 RX330 from this 3.1 to a 9.1 version with no problems . I used the procedure that included removing the fuse though.
Help!!

What version were you running originally?

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Question disc error on nav DVD upgrade

It is a v 2.1

I read that I should disconnect the batter or remove and replace a fuse. Any thoughts?

Take a look at the information on this link: http://reviews.ebay.com/Lexus-Naviga...00000004085713 It was posted by the folks at Sewell Lexus. From your description sound like you may have a Gen 2 system. Hopefully you can get into the on-screen diagnostics and see what system you have.

Yes and the disc I am trying to install is a gen 2/3 so it is compatible. Lexus told me it is compatible but would not give me instructions on upgrading, told me to call the dealer. And, "claimed" to not know what the problem is. They stated that "they did not want to advise me b/c it is electrical" yeh right

Lexus claimed that they don't have the instructions for installation, yeh right again!!

They were useless. They shoudl be glad that I bought a lexus!!

I've upgraded my Gen 2/3 nav system on my 2003 and there was no "fuse pulling" involved.

Start the car, get the nav up on the screen.

In the trunk, take off the plastic cover, slide the protector out of the way, hit the eject button, remove old disk.

Insert new disk.

It will say something like "Loading - Don't turn the car off right now...ya jack-a$$" or words to that effect.

Then, when it's done doing it's thing, it'll "reboot" and the nav comes up with the new maps.

Slide protective cover back in place, reinstall plastic cover.

That's all I did.
