I have a 2004 SC430 and I just noticed a new problem with my headlight auto-leveling: my headlights seem to occasionally flutter as I drive down the road. I can see the headlight beams reflection on either side of the car and they seem to “jump” on occasion. My headlight alignment dashboard light had been coming on about intermittingly about two months ago, but I haven’t seen it since then.
So I took my car to about 30 MPH and aggressively applied the brakes, I could see the headlights “rebound” or “jump” once my forward momentum stop.
I’ve searched this forum and didn’t find this particular problem, has anyone experienced a problem similar to this with their SC430?
Sounds obvious, but check that your headlight mounting screws are tight and that you haven't broken any of the mounting tabs; they crack easily. My right headlight fluttered too and it was from a broken tab.... I fixed it and the fluttering stopped.
I'll give the headlights a good "look-over", however I don't think it's the "tabs" or "screws" because both headlights just started "jumping" out of the blue. Anyone else with suggestions as I'll be looking closely at the headlights this evening?
