Autoblog reports on next gen. SC
According to autoblog.com, Lexus does have a replacement SC in the works. No real information was given other than they think a soft-top may become available. Check it out at: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/09/r...430-successor/
Glad to hear there is a successor!

On this website it says it will "abandon" the hardtop though, which sounds like it will no longer have a hardtop. I think keeping the hardtop would be better or making softtop an option.

But a soft top?......
I'm looking for something to take over my SC430s role as daily driver and occasional top down fun car. That includes winter snow driving and a lot of rain in Seattle. A soft top would totally take the successor off my radar.
For more spirited driving, I use the Aston.
The SC430 has been a great all around, every day fun car. Its hard top was a big reason I got my 02. Going to a soft top for the replacement means I won't be buying one to replace the SC430.

I doubt that the SC would return with the 4.3L engine. Most likely, the SC will return as at least an SC460. Ideally, Lexus should make different versions, perhaps an SC460, SC600h, and an SC-F.
Regarding the soft-top, considering Lexus luxury I think it would mirror something similar to that offered on BMW 6-series convertibles, which doesn't seem so bad. I'm excited to see the new design if this actually is true!

I think it's probably just an inaccurate rumour regarding a soft top, I hope it is.
But if they really make ONLY a soft top SC, I won't be getting it.
However, if they make two versions, like the 6-series, Bentley GTC, i.e., a non-convertible coupe and a ragtop convertible, then I will consider only the coupe version.
